The Heart Behind the Work | A Note From Natalie:

“It is my experience that each of us carries stories with us. Some we share outwardly while others are made less visible – especially those associated with pain, discomfort or loss. As an Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, I have collaborated with incredible clients over the past 13 years of my career. I have worked in a number of locations from schools, outpatient and residential settings, psychiatric facilities, substance use treatment centers, community spaces and justice centers.

I have worked with children, adolescents and their families as well as with transition age youth and adults. I believe each of us has a creative self that when nurtured, can be instrumental to the healing process. I have witnessed art therapy reach so many people, even those who have limited experience in the arts or whom were hesitant to start.

Many of my clients are interested in finding care to help with various issues such as adjusting to life changes, managing anxiety, coping with depression, working through feelings of grief and loss, processing trauma, exploring aspects of identity, navigating relationship challenges, and considering career changes among other things.

My therapeutic style is warm, person centered and integrative. I blend traditional talk therapy with creative interventions to support my clients in working through challenges in a collaborative way. I believe in the power of creative expression as a vehicle for reflection, problem solving, self discovery, storytelling, transformation and healing.

I have found one of the key indicators for successful treatment to be forming a strong therapeutic alliance. My hope is to create an inclusive environment in which you feel accepted and understood in our sessions. I view active collaboration as essential in making progress toward your goals, which we will define together throughout the course of treatment.”
